Review a photo before sending a report

A photo is optional. The form previews selected images before submission and lets you remove them. Check the whole image for people, registration plates and unnecessary details; the form asks before using a location found in a photo.

Goal

Use a helpful image without unintentionally sharing personal details or a wrong location.

Before you start

  • You have opened the report form and may want to add an image.

Steps

  1. Choose an image only if helpful

Take or select a photo when it makes the issue easier to understand. A report can also be sent without an image.

  2. Review the whole preview

Look at the foreground and background. Remove an image from the preview if people, registration plates or private details are visible.

Photo preview with a remove cross in the top right.
Example view with test data: the report form's photo preview can be removed again using the cross in the top right corner. The title and appearance can differ by organisation.

  3. Answer the location question deliberately

If the photo holds position data and the location field is empty, the form can offer to use it. Decide for yourself and check the final location before sending.

Check the result

Your report contains only suitable images and a location you have checked.

If something goes wrong

The preview shows an unsuitable photo.
Remove it from the preview before sending or choose another image.
A location question appears after adding a photo.
Accept only if the place matches the issue. Otherwise decline and enter the location yourself.

Common questions

Must I upload a photo?

No. A description and location are enough for the public reporting route.

Does the platform use the photo location automatically?

No. When a photo has location data and the location field is empty, the form asks first.
